About Us

“Driven by a deep-seated commitment to community and a passion for effective leadership.”

Raised in Mendham Borough, I am proud to come from a family legacy of public service. My father, Neil, dedicated a combined 18 years to serving on the Mendham Borough council and as Mayor. His commitment ignited my interest in local public service from a young age, leading me to declare, on career day in 8th grade at Mountain View Middle School, my aspiration to give back to my local community by serving as a local, elected official.

After graduating from West Morris Mendham High School in 2006, I pursued my education at the University of South Carolina. Although I briefly returned to Mendham in 2010, my journey took me to the Midwest in 2012. The pull of home was undeniable, so, my husband and I returned to Mendham, eager to establish roots and contribute to our beloved community.

I am running for town council because I am deeply invested in preserving the values and benefits that have attracted generations to Mendham Borough. As a custodian of our town's legacy, I am committed to ensuring that future residents can experience the same sense of belonging and opportunity that has defined Mendham for decades.

With a background as a Marketing professional in heavily regulated industries, I bring a unique perspective to the table. I have experience in building high-performing, empowered teams and executing complex plans across multiple stakeholders to achieve common goals. I believe these skills are invaluable in navigating the challenges and opportunities facing our community.

Together, let's work to uphold the values that have shaped Mendham Borough for generations while embracing innovative solutions to meet the needs of our evolving community. I am eager to serve as your advocate and representative on the town council, and with your support, I am confident that we can build a brighter future for Mendham Borough.

Alex Henry-Traut

Born and raised in Mendham, I have been deeply rooted in this community my entire life. From attending all three public schools to volunteering at the Mendham Fire Department, this town has profoundly shaped who I am today. Moreover, growing up here, I witnessed the dedication of my parents, who also spent their lives in Mendham, instilling in me a profound love and commitment to serving our community.

Taking it a step back, after completing my education at Mendham’s public institutions, I pursued higher education at Quinnipiac University. There, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Journalism, a Master’s in Public Relations, with a minor in Political Science. Outside of my academic pursuits, I was actively involved in numerous university organizations, including Q30 News and the Student Government Association. These experiences equipped me with a passion for working with people and striving to provide solutions to their problems.

Following graduation, my journey in public service commenced by working on local political campaigns, where I learned firsthand the importance of grassroots efforts and community engagement. Since then, I have had the privilege of contributing to both local initiatives and high-profile campaigns, gaining invaluable experience along the way.

Within the past two years, numerous opportunities within my family’s business, Bruin & Sons, arose, and the decision to return home to Mendham was easy to make.

With that being said, I decided to run for council to provide my fellow residents with fresh perspectives and the opportunity to bring a new generation to the table. Additionally, with plans of raising a family in Mendham myself, I want to be a voice that preserves the traditions of the town that shaped who I am today.

As a council member, I pledge to listen to the voices of our community, advocate for conservative and responsible decision-making, and work tirelessly to address the issues that matter most to Mendham residents. Together, let’s build a brighter future for our town—one where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
